Server requirements
Before installation, confirm that your hosting environment provides:
- PHP 8.2 or newer
- MariaDB 10.6+ or MySQL 8.0+
- HTTPS with a valid SSL certificate
- PHP extensions: PDO MySQL, OpenSSL, cURL, Fileinfo, Mbstring, JSON, Intl and ZIP
- A writable storage directory outside the public web root
- Cron access for background jobs and scheduled notifications
- Permission to send email using SMTP or the server mail transport
Recommended production setup
Use a dedicated database user, disable directory listing, keep backups outside the web root and never expose the .env file. Shared hosting may work for smaller installations, but a managed VPS provides more control for growing organisations.
